The Examination season is around the corner, this is an important moment for our children, especially those in Grade 12.

On behalf of the Provincial Government, I wish all learners in our province who will be seating for their end of year examination all of the best.

We call on you to use the few remaining days before the exams effectively and prudently. This is the time to suspend all activities that are not helpful to your studies including time spend on Social Networks. All of your attention should be fixed to your books, and nothing else.

We also call on parents, guardians and everyone to offer our children all the necessary support and encouragement they require during this demanding period of exit examination.

We urge you to remember and be guided by the judicious words of former President Nelson Mandela when he said that “Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mine worker can become the head of the mine that a child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation.”

We are confident that the class of 2018 will realise our target of radically improving our Grade 12 pass rate. For this target to be achieved, it is important that we remind you of three working ingredients of a good pass; these ingredients are: hard work, focus and discipline.

Remember that a good pass is a master key that opens all doors to opportunities and a better life; with a good pass you can be admitted to the best universities in the world, enjoy freedom to choose your study field and get all the financial assistance you may need.

I once again wish to extend my best wishes to you, and remember that there is no shortcut to success!
