The August 3rd free and fair elections which are said to be the most highly contested elections since the inception of democracy came with noteworthy changes in the Lephalale Municipality.

The ANC still holds their seat as the ruling party in the Lephalale Municipality with a majority of 36 656 total valid voters making 66. 15%. This managed to give the ANC 17 total party seat with 10 ward seats. A firm 7 PR List seats making it 65.38%. The new kids on the block have managed to get a total of 11 176 valid votes making it 20.17% in percentage. A first for the history of Lephalale Municipality, the council will now be joined by 5 (19.23%) PR councillors from the EFF. The Democratic Alliance now have 3 ward seats and 4 total party seats. A total of 7582 valid votes went to the DA giving them 13.68%. The DA has one PR List Seat Calculated making up a 15.38% of seats won.
